The last surviving copy of the ‘Lord Kitchener Wants You’ First World War recruiting poster in public possesion will be sold for at least £15,000. The current owners purchased the poster for £100 back in 1983. Despite being a very popular and iconic image of the war responsible for millions of men enlisting in the army, only 10,000 copies were printed and only 3 survive. The other 2 part of the collections of the Imperial War Museum in London and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. The poster was so successful it was copied by the Americans who replaced Kitchener (British Secretary of State for War) with Uncle Sam.
