Poster Monday: Beautiful Pink Nails
For this second Poster Monday spot we are featuring a poster designed by Sven Lindhorst-Emme from Germany entitled “Beautiful Pink Nails”. Sven studied lithography and worked for 10 years as such, then he studied graphic design and moved to Berlin where he runs the studio lindhorst-emme.
Last month Sven, together with Weltformat, organized a big exhibition about Swiss and especially Luzern posters. Twenty designers such as Felix Pfäffli, Erich Brechbühl, Niklaus Troxler, Melchior Imboden and more where shown at the exhibit.
The poster from above (selected also to be featured on Golden Bee 2014) is a representation of the typical stereotypes of male and female. The nails as a male stereotype of handcraft and also a female statement of beauty. The backstory of the poster comes from a woman Sven saw who was using unnatural long pink nails. That got him thinking about beauty, stereotypes and such, so he decided to have a say in a poster format with a funny touch.
Sven likes to keep posters easy & simple, because reading a poster has to first of all simple to cacht the viewer and make him think. And the second reason if because of the way to produce it as a silkprint.
If you would like to know more about Svens works visit his studio website and remember to submit your posters to be featured in our coming editions of Poster Monday.
