Poster Monday: Game Over
For this first Poster Monday spot we have a poster from Mario Estévez entitled “Game Over”. Mario was born and raised in the city of Aljojuca, State of Puebla, Mexico. He owns a degree in Graphic Design from the “Instituto de Estudios Superiores AC”, and he had the opportunity to take classes with great professors such as Osvaldo Gaona, Elmer Sosa and René Azcuy. Currently works in Studio stvez.
For the poster “Game Over” Mario used the image of the popular video game from the 80’s known as “Pac-man” to talk about on how technology has devoured nature. All the elements from the poster are a clear reference to the 80’s visuals. “After several sketches I represented the idea by using vectors, basic geometric shapes and a chromatic contrasts (yellow and black)” says Mario.
The poster was selected as finalist and will be featured in the coming exhibition of Golden Turtle 9 from Russia. If you would like to see more visit stvez.tumblr.com and enjoy Mario’s work.
Mario believes that posters are meant to be published to communicate their messages either in a direct and raw way or in a subtle and elegant one and would like to close this short interview by quoting Felipe Taborda from Brazil “As long as we have paper, ideas and a desire for information, poster will exist”.
