Poster Monday: Nepal
The second Poster Monday spot of the day entitled “Nepal” comes from Brazil and it belongs to Marcos Minini. Marcos studied Graphic Design at the Federal University of Paraná. Over the last 25 years he worked at different advertising agencies and design studios, like Lumen Design (senior designer), Master Comunicação (design creative director) and Brainbox Branding 360 (associate creative director).
Marcos is also one of the founders of Clube de Criação do Paraná (Creative Club of Paraná) and Prodesign PR (Paraná Design Association) and teach Poster Design at RedHook School of Creativity and also run lectures and workshops on creativity. His work has been selected for many poster competitions and biennials such as: Teheran, China, Bolivia, Lahti, Warsaw, ADG Brazil, Moscow, BID10 – Biennial of Ibero-American Design and the International Triennial of Stage Poster Sofia.
For designing the poster Marcos used a photo from Everest which he digitally modified to make it more dramatic. The text is coming from top to bottom, like falling to the ground. “I’ve idealized this poster one day after the first earthquake when I was watching the news about it. Looking at the images the sensation was like the mountains were breaking down. It was made to make people remember the tragedy and the ones who died or injured in it.” says Marcos.
Marcos relationship with poster design started in a travel to Poland in 1986, when he saw that wonderful posters all around the cities he realized he had to do that. He works as graphic designer since 1989 and he has been designing posters for cultural events since late 1990′.
