Poster Monday: Pencils have a heart
For the second Poster Monday spot of the week we have a poster entitled “Pencils have a heart”, it comes from Sarajevo and it was designed by Dino Hujić.
Dino was born in Sarajevo capital city of Bosnia and Hezegovina where he still studies graphic design on The Academy of Fine Arts. During all of these years Dino has been trying to keep a dose of traditional techniques in his work trying to avoid the digital medium as much as he can.
The poster “Pencils have a heart” was designed for the terrorist attack that took place in France on the morning of 7 January 2015 known as the Chelire Hebdo Shooting. “It was my first emotion after the attack, there was no creative process just an emotional process, the poster was just a scan of a 2inch x 2inch drawing I drew in some paper. In Balkan countries the graphite of a pencil is known as “the pencil’s heart”, that’s why I represented the key part of the pencil symbolically bleeding.” says Dino.
Sadly Dino does not have a website to visit and see more posters and work from him, but if sometime he does we will update the post so you can check it out. If you would like to see your work featured in our site visit our submissions page from the submenu option of Poster Monday and send your work.
