Poster Monday: Dance Steps
For this Poster Monday spot of the day we have work from the talented Alejandro Ortiz from Bogota, Colombia. Alejandro originally studied cinema but ended up working in advertising agencies as an art director. “To me, poster design is one of the most difficult practices in visual communication, and that’s why I feel so committed to it. It’s challenging and even frustrating at times, but nothing compares to the feeling you get when you find the perfect match between message and image.” says Alejandro.
The poster we are featuring here is called “Dance Steps”. According to Alejandro, “Climate warming is a very common theme and I wanted to approach the subject; I challenge myself to talk about climate warming using dark humor. I think about our habits, our choices, our hobbies and I wanted to explore the values within a society that is resigned to endure the consequences of climate change without trying to change their ways. Merging scuba diving and dancing felt like a fresh point of view.” From this different perspective the poster is a bleak vision of the future, through a very common practice such as dancing, it seems like it is better to resign than fight to stop the effects of climate warming.
As you already may know all submissions are considered each week, so your poster might make it to our website in the future. If you would like to submit a poster to be featured on Poster Mondays find all the info you need in our Submissions page.
