Accidentally obscene Year of the Monkey Poster

This minimalistic poster created by Lehu Zhang took a wrong turn when someone at BuzzFeed realized that the image celebrating the Chinese Year of the Monkey resembled something a little more NSFW. The image quickly spread through twitter, making people laugh around the world. When interviewed by BuzzFeed Zhang explained he genuinely had no idea that his monkey’s face very strongly resembled genitalia, and that the hump-like shape directly under the monkey looked decidedly butt-like. This is a good reminder that it’s always good to consider the Gestalt Laws and make sure our design will not be read in another way! 😉
