For the second Poster Monday spot of March we have a poster from Mehmet Mert Aydogan from Turkey for his poster “The Whole”. Mehmet studied political science and international relations and is currently working on his master’s degree of Graphic Design at Yeditepe University. “Graphic design has always been an interest for me so I am finishing my master’s on it, trying to combine it into political communication. Posters are shown to be the most effective and creative way to express yourself, tell the others what you think. I like it because it can change the hearts of people and the change starts at the hearts of people” says Mehmet.

“The Whole” poster tells us about how women’s rights are a subject that is never simple to address but at the same time Mehmet presents it in a simple visual argument. The poster explains that there is a devastating fact that men still occupy a larger space in the process of life, voluntarily or involuntarily, and that achieving equity between genders is a much more difficult challenge to achieve. “We are living in a harsh world and for some of us, it is even harsher. Visualizing the problems is the thing that got me started into graphic design as a whole – like storytelling, but fewer words, in a movie, you’ve got thousands of frames to tell what you think but you only get one with posters. It had to be simple so it could be memorized. It also had to be big because the problem is big. Using the space and keeping it minimal were the two keywords so I tried to expel as much as I could” says Mehmet.
