Poster Monday: Achilles and the Tortoise
For the last Monday in October, we have the poster “Achilles and the Tortoise” designed by Dragana Vasić, a graphic design student at Academy of Arts, University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, she started making posters at the first year at the Academy and that is the field in graphic design that she prefer the most, alongside branding, because she feels freedom to create the whole new concept behind certain product, event, company/organization, movie, play, person, etc. “I like exploring new fields in graphic design and art, and try to create my own style by using mixed media and combining traditional fine arts like painting, drawing, printmaking and illustration with modern graphic design tools” says Dragana.
The poster is made for movie Achilles and the tortoise directed by Takeshi Kitano. It was a school project and the idea behind it was to create the feeling that you have after watching the movie. The question of this poster is: it worth it? “I think that my poster contributes to the theme in a way that it gives alternative to the movie posters that we see every day in the movie industry and they are all almost the same, following the same blueprint. My poster is different than that, because it provokes emotion, whether it is good or bad” says Dragana.
