For the second Poster Monday spot of the day we have the poster “Mother & Child” designed by Pradeep Kumar from India. This poster was created for Mother’s Day to thank all the mothers for their unending Love for us and the happiness in our life because of them.
The two graphic elements – a circle and a leaf are named after the Indian folk tale – Dhela aur Patta. These two elements are conveyed typographically by showing the Heart and the Smile. The word Maa in Hindi means mother and though it is written with a single dot over the crescent but is modified to create the Smile, similarly the letter O in mother is replaced with heart as symbol of love. “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”. The complete “Dhela Patta” graphic series are available here.
Pradeep Kumar was born in a village named Khalasi in Rajasthan, the desert state of India. He studied Design at IIT Guwahati and currently works as a user experience designer in Bangalore creating flawless interfaces for mobile applications.
