This Poster Monday spot goes to Gizem Candan from Turkey for her poster “SALE”, an invitation to think about one of the biggest challenges the world faces today, Consumerism. Purchasing is the best example of humanity’s greed. But actually we don’t buy things. We buy how things make us feel… the ‘SALE’ poster addresses this problem. “I always think that why do we over-consume?’ And then I decided to create a poster to increase awareness. ‘SALE’ as a word, is a short and clear way to express consumption. Also I used a flocking of flies on my poster to describe people in shopping. From my perspective, I think we artists create awareness with these kinds of posters and I am happy to be a part of this” says Gizem.
