Poster Monday: Spoiler
For this week’s Poster Monday spot we are featuring a poster designed by Matteo Baracco entitled “Spoiler”. Matteo was born in Turin, Italy; is 25 years old and an artist and designer, passionate about visual arts and music, currently work with communication agencies, magazines and cultural projects.
This poster was published on issue 33 of Hestetika, Italian art magazine. It’s titled *Spoiler* and it’s dedicated to the theme “ON/OFF”. Its description is: “Earth, a planet always switched on that is switching off.” The poster aims to highlight the abuse of fossil fuels by humans, such as oil, which are leading to rapid climate change overheating our planet and causing serious damage. The work is a provocative anticipation, and the spoiler is contained in the word itself: the letters were made of terracotta to metaphorically represent the arid and bare earth surface due to global warming and the letters OIL, emit their nectar like a cancer. “My projects are the result of the combination of different languages that, mixed together and fueled by the strong desire to discover the world, allow me to create new ones, creating artistic and cultural products” says Matteo.
