Poster Monday: Strangers
For the first Poster Monday spot of the day we have a poster from Katarzyna Zapart. She is a freelance graphic designer from krakow, Poland who finished graphic design master studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
Katarzyna has won several graphic design awards such as 2014 Graphis New Talent – platinum award (series of theatre posters), 2013 1st International Student Poster Biennial, Lublin – 3rd prize (“Demons” poster), 2013 Polish Poster Biennial, Katowice – Academy od Fine Arts in Krakow prize (“Hamlet” poster), 2012 Trnava International Poster Triennial – 2nd prize (student category) (“Ubu the king” poster), 2012 Art de Coke – graphic contest – 1st prize and 2012 Billboard design contest “Welcome to Cracow” – 2nd prize.
The poster from above belongs to a serie entitled “Strangers”, it was made for the Vera Icon christian artists group exhibition. Katarzyna’s goal was to create something christian, but as well she wanted to avoid cliche. Glasses with clouds are symbol of looking further, this world is only a stop on our way to better one. It is not an obvious illustration of a topic, but it shows a quintessence of it.
Apart from a “heaven idea”, glasses also relates to a sight sense, which is the main sense we use to discover art. If you want to see the complete serie and more from Katarzyna visit her behance page and stay around until we unveil the next Poster Monday spot of the day.
