PosterMonday: New Day
The first Poster Monday of the day belongs to the Poster New Day, designed by Rasool Haghjoo from Iran.
The poster is about a drama writing festival. Each year Persians celebrate the new year on the 1st day of the spring, and this day is called “NOROOZ”.
In the Norooz, each persian family has a “HAFTSIN” (HAFT=7 SEVEN and SIN=S-word). The meaning of haftsin is “Seven S”. Persian people collect seven things on the table, which names start the with (S) word in Persian language, and have a special cultural.
These objects are:
1 – Sekkeh = Coin
2 – Sib = Apple
3 – Senjed = Sea-buckthorn
4 – Somaq = Sumac
5 – Samanoo = Kind of dish prepared from the juice of germinating wheat
6 – Serke = Vinegar
7 – Sabzeh = Fresh Green Grass
Other important symbolic objects are “Mirror”, “Quran”, “Hafiz Book” and most important to any other symbols is the GOLD FISH, which symbolizes life.
The festival begins in Norooz and because of that, Rasool used the most important symbol of Norooz object, the fish, in his poster. For him in the play, the writer gives “life” to the characte.
