Poster Monday: The Walk
The Poster Monday spot of the day The Walk was designed by Nabil Mendjeli from Constantine, Algeria. Nabil graduated from l’École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts d’Alger with a bachelor degree in Miniature and obtained a government grant to study in Beijing China, where he spent two years. Today, Nabil is working as an Art Director in an advertising agency in Algiers. His personal works have been exhibited in several countries, such as Hong-Kong, China, Ukraine, Mexico, Czech Republic, South Korea, Dubaï and South Africa.
Nabil explains the concept of his poster : “In my work the goal is always to keep things as simple as possible, following Saint-Exupéry’s quote: “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” In this poster I wanted to illustrate the idea that we are all descendants of migrants who moved from Africa (the cradle of Mankind) represented as the biggest continent to the others lands represented smaller around it. The whole picture is simply a figure of a footprint, a walk. Convinced that borders between countries will disappear one day, we begin already to travel without moving with the virtual reality, this poster is a call for Open-mindedness, Tolerance, Peace & Love to everyone, all over the world. I finally want to dedicate this work to a 27 years old brave algerian migrant who left his family to look for a better life in Scotland and where he passed away, my brother Ahmed”.
