Canadian Wartime Posters: Pandemic Adaptations
The Toronto Public Library has issued a call to Canadian designers to adapt one of their 100+ wartime posters to reflect our society’s current situation during this historic pandemic. The call has had dozens of submissions and will be showcased online.
According to the Toronto Public Library, “All the signs of support in our city during the pandemic have been truly inspiring. Also, they made me think of the many wartime posters held in our Baldwin Collection of Canadiana in Special Collections. Both today’s signs and these vintage posters capture key moments in history.”
The Toronto Public Library turned to the Toronto subreddit (a social media forum) to ask Torontonians to adapt these wartime posters to speak to the new historic moment we’re currently in.
Be sure to take a look at some of the interesting adaptations in the above gallery.
