The Design of Dissent
When it comes to books it can be hard to make a recommendation, but when it comes to The Design of Dissent there is no doubt in our minds about it.
The book, written by Milton Glaser and Mirko Ilic, features social and political graphic work from the 1960’s to the present, created by individuals, groups and internationally recognized artists from around the world. Each page is a piece of violent history that hits the reader on the face and invites a deep reflection about the nature and future of humankind.
The images include exquisite poster by designers of the size of Yossi Lemel, Boris Ljubicic, David Tartakover, Peter Pócs and the book’s authors among others. The book was published in 2005 but is as current as ever. It is an excellent reference material for anyone interested in activist design and of course for all of us who love really good posters.
