The Poster For Tomorrow Fake News Book is finally here. The book celebrates the 11th edition of which pushes barriers to give Fake News the best contribution possible!

This limited edition book is printed in square format 215 x 215 mm, on 100% recycled handmade natural paper and consists of 148 pages.

The Fake News book includes a foreword by Vera Gheno – Sociolinguist, teacher and lecturer at the University of Florence, designed by Hervé Matine and written by Will Georgi.

The best 100 posters book is published in 4 languages, giving you also an overview of the activities of the project since the first biennale edition in 2020 including a crowdfunding campaign to combat COVID-19 in refugee camps in Syria and a poster contest calling for the immediate release of Egyptian political prisoner Patrick Zaki.

The Poster: A visual history

The Poster, a visual history is a book edited by Gill Saunders and Margaret Timmers that brings together over 300 examples of poster design and the various ways the medium has been used to throughout time. Organized into seven thematic chapters, each poster is accompanied by a concise commentary that explains the work in terms of its design, printing, content, message, and the commercial, social or political impact it may have had.

Great Posters and How to Make Them’ is a new book by designer and illustrator Teresa Sdralevich published by Cicada Books that is the perfect book for anyone interested in the poster medium. Whether you are a student or a professional ‘Poster Power! Great Posters and How to Make Them’ offers many simple yet intelligent exercises that get you thinking visually and differently. From the beginning Teresa gets you creating posters which gives you a step by step process of how to make a great poster. About the author:

Teresa Sdralevich is a graphic designer and illustrator whose work mainly addresses social, political and cultural topics. She regularly leads workshops across Europe: notably at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Academy of Fine Arts of Sarajevo, Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna.

Some Posters from the NGV celebrates ninety posters from the institution’s extensive exhibition poster archive. The first book of this kind by the National Gallery of Victoria, Some Posters is a collaboration between the Gallery and award-winning designer Stuart Geddes. The illustrated volume presents a cleverly-edited selection of posters spanning 1963−1985. Key international designers Elizabeth Glickfeld, Stuart Bertolotti-Bailey and James Langdon have contributed texts contextualising these posters in both Australian and international graphic design practice.

Seen together for the first time, the selection features the work of more than a dozen designers during a 22-year period. There’s a “confidence” in posters such as American Painting, says Megan Patty, the NGV’s senior publications co-ordinator and co-editor of Some Posters from the NGV. “We see individuality happen between the designers of each period. It’s beautiful that a designer can make their mark on a place like this in ways we wouldn’t see today.”

But it’s not just the variety of style and imagery – from Sydney Ball’s optical games for The Field (1968), Heinz Grunwald’s eye-catching full-bleed illustration for Crafts Victoria 75 or the stacked and packed type of Peter Timms’ Italian Painting 1940-1960 – that makes the posters interesting artefacts. The designers readily embraced new printing techniques – lithography, screenprinting – gloss stocks and paper sizes. Perhaps, the most ambitious poster is David Sampietro’s exercise in multimedia packaging for the Survey series of Australian art from 1979. Each of the Survey posters acts as a book that incorporates a video cassette.

“David did poster design, exhibition design, book design, then this booklet-cassette packaging,” says Patty. “These designers weren’t just poster designers, they were designers practising in an institution with lots of different outputs.”

The variety of the posters offers a microcosm of the changing face and aspiration of a developing design culture in Australia. According to the curators, the designers’ quirky interpretations of international styles – from Swiss modernism to postmodernism – reveal a vital local identity and intelligence.

“There’s no singular narrative,” says Patty. “That’s what’s great about Australia.”

The Art of John Alvin

The Art of John Alvin is a book that contains the best works of one of the greatest poster designers of Hollywood, responsible for more than 100 film poster designs, some of which have become iconic images we imagine when we think of the classic films of the past four decades.His posters credits include E.T., Blade Runner,  Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid,The Lion King, The Color Purple, and the Gremlins, among many others. The last work of Alvin was for the Disney movie Enchanted, a year before he passed away on February 6, 2008, consequence of  a heart attack. The book also includes some unpublished works of the artist for films like Batman and Jurassic Park.

The poster´s place on the world

Elizabeth Guffey, Professor of Art & Design History, State University of New York at Purchase, is the author of Retro: The Culture of Revival (Reaktion Books, 2006), editor of the journal Design and Culture (Bloomsbury) and her latest book is Posters: A Global History (Reaktion Books, 2015). The latter is a serious analysis of the poster phenomenon that addresses the past and future of a venerable form.

Tomasso Marcolla Poster Book

The Italian designer Tomasso Marcolla has published a book under the title Poster featuring a collection of some of his best poster designs, as well as pictures of some of his exhibitions around the world. Marcolla’s artworks witness a creative path in the satire’ and humorist’s world, lecturing us ironically on tragic topics. The text accompanying the images was written by Roberto Fonte.

The polish poster designer Nikodem Pręgowski has just finished creating his very first poster book called ‘transparency is boring’.  The book is been published by the Nicolaus Copernicus University Publishing House in Torun (Poland) and it consists of 40 pages, 127 posters and some text in Polish.  From start to finish the book contains a selection of posters from the year 2006 to 2014.
