Our rights in times of crisis
In the spring of 2020, FOKAL launched a call for participation to young creative designers entitled “Our rights in the times of crisis” which aimed at the realization of a poster competition on human rights in Haiti during the Covid-19 pandemic.
For 15 days, 13 young designers benefited from the supervision of graphic designers Teresa Sdralevich and Ralph Dupoux, as well as human rights activist Danièle Magloire and psychologist Jacqueline Baussan in order to create posters that tackle many themes: access to information for all, protection of health personnel, children and families facing inequality concerning online education, domestic violence, discrimination, the impossibility to confine themselves for a majority of the population and the weight of this new crisis on women, who are the great majority of single-parent families. At the end of this webinar, a competition was organized, on Instagram for the public prize, as well as in front of a jury bringing together graphic design and human rights professionals.
The initiative was carried out by the Media and Citizen Education programs of FOKAL, as part of the project “Access to justice and fight against impunity in Haiti”, led by Avocats sans frontières Canada and supported by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada.
