Poster Monday: 50th Reunion Poster!
For this Poster Monday spot we have a poster designed by Kevin O’Callaghan a Minneapolis based graphic designer born in Chicago, USA. Kevin is graduated at Art Center College of Design in California, he worked in ad agency as art director in USA and in New Zealand for 15 years. Now is a freelance designer in Minneapolis.
Kevin’s first intention with the poster “50th Reunion Poster!” was recreate the typographic visual style of the 60s, for this Kevin tells us “I always admired the Fillmore concert posters from the 1960’s but never had the opportunity to try to do one. So I thought my reunion would be a perfect time. I started with a small thumbnail sketch, and then tried to build it in Illustrator, but that seemed impossible. So I went old-school. I hand-drew the entire thing! No mechanical aids at all. I used ink pens on frosted mylar – sharp lines and easy to correct. Then I put it into Illustrator and made it vector art. Next stage will be to screenprint 200 posters and distribute them at the event”.
Visit Kevin’s personal site to know more about him and remember to submit your posters for the next edition of Poster Monday.
