Poster Monday: Homenaje
For this Poster Monday spot we have a poster designed by Luis Rivera Rodriguez from Puebla, Mexico. Luis holds a BA degree on Graphic Design. Teaches and coordinates the BA degree on Graphic Design at the “Escuela Superior de Ciencias y Humanidades de Puebla”, Mexico.
Just to name a few, Luis has been selected for competitions and exhibitions such as: Shows Your Type edición 2014 Tokio, MutZurWut 2013, 12èMe Triennale Internationale de L’Affiche Politique (Le Manage) Belgium 2013, Triennial the 4th Block 2012, Triennial of Toyama 2012, Recolor Somalia 2011, Un cartel para no Olvidar 2011
This poster “Homenaje” was in a to-do list, it was nor finished or published, but when Luis got an invitation to organize an exhibition for the 100th anniversary of Jose Guadalupe Posada he finished the poster by collecting information that could evoke ideas and feelings about Posada.
For the copy/text he chose a font designed by Cristóbal Henestrosa, Espinosa Nova, which Luis considers a perfect match for his design. The poster itself is a tribute to the artist, but also a representation of love and an invitation to love what we do.
After hour of hard work Luis finished the poster and organized the exhibition inviting colleagues from all over the world as Obed Meza, Elmer Sosa, Santiago Robles, Osvaldo Gaona, Manolo Guerrero, our own Christoper Scott, Felipe Coca, Betty Valerio, Lourdes Zoulezzi and Erendida Mancilla among many others.
