Poster Monday: King Ubu
The last Poster Monday spot of the day goes to Marta Wapiennik from Cracow, Poland for her poster for the theatre play “King Ubu”. A great representation of the main character of the play and to the characteristics attributed by the author to the modern man. This poster has been selected on the last edition of the Lathi Poster Triennal. Congratulations for your work Marta!
Ubu Roi (Ubu the King or King Ubu – December 10, 1896) is a play by Alfred Jarry. Is considered a wild, bizarre and comic play, significant for the way it overturns the cultural rules, norms, and conventions. It is now seen by some to have opened the door for what became known as modernism in the twentieth century. It is a precursor to the Theatre of the Absurd and Surrealism.
If your poster wasn’t featured this week don’t be disappointed. All submissions are considered each week so your poster might make it to our website in the future. If you would like to submit a poster to be featured on Poster Mondays find all the info you need in our Submissions page.
