Poster Monday: Linocut Workshop
For the first Monday Poster spot of February we have a poster coming from Istanbul from Kadir Çıtak entitled “Linocut Workshop”. Kadir was born and grew up in Istanbul. He always painting and sketching since his childhood. Kadir studied in Mimar Sinan Fine Art University later as an exchange student took classes from Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. “The time I spend in Krakow, the Polish art, design and culture impressed me a lot and made me deeply curious on printmaking. Since these days, still keep making printmaking and posters” says Kadir.
The poster was made for a linocut workshop which has been organized by an Istanbul based artist collective, HÖNK which also I am in. As HÖNK collective, we have decided to make a poster that indicates all needed information like time, place and partners. And also the participants are architecture students who didn’t try printmaking before. For this reason, I choose a clear approach on poster to show the effect and texture of linocut print. After sketches and finding the idea, I finalized the poster digitally.
