The second Poster Monday spot of the day entitled “Respect Makes Perfect” belongs to Monica Angelina from Jakarta, Indonesia. Monica has been interested in art since she was a child. She has a Bachelor Degree on Visual Communication Design from Pelita Harapan University and currently works as an independent graphic designer. Monica worked at Leo Burnett Indonesia as an intern where she learnt a lot about visual communication especially for the advertising industry.
Some of her works has been featured and exhibited in: 100 best finalist of Design for Peace at MKC Gallery (Skopje, Macedonia); TITIK TEMU VI at Taman Ismail Marzuki (Jakarta, Indonesia).
“Lately we often hear on the news about wars and commotion around the world. The idea of this poster is to indicate peace in a gesture. People often use gestures to show anger or happiness so I combined those insights, the praying hands gesture which also in some cultures means respect and the silhouette of two doves as the most popular symbol of peace. When I was thinking about peace, I thought about respect and I feel that when we show respect for other people, we are also respecting ourselves.” says Monica.
