For this Poster Monday spot we are featuring a poster from Luis Rutz, a graphic designer from Berlin, Germany. Luis is studying design with a major in typography and has a personal love for posters. Luis was inspired to create posters by the work of designers such as Götz Gramlich and Niklaus Troxler. Posters are currently are a big slice of his work, offering a genius and fun medium.

The poster entitled “WET#01” was made for a party series in Vienna for an event mainly launched for lesbians. “This here is the first one! Every few weeks I get a new women’s torso sculpture, which I then translate into a poster. I really appreciate those kind of tasks. The client trusts me and I am happy to run riot a bit” says Luis.

Luis tells us about his poster “the first one was meant to pop-up quite universal in terms of the image. I just wanted to say: HELLO! HERE WE ARE! The torso is placed rather prominent and gets illuminated by a play of different shapes and typography. I was thinking a bit of those rotating Hollywood spotlights pointing to the night sky. To my mind it is very important for every poster of the series having its individual setting, yet to share a related aesthetic language. I don’t really stick to any particular methods or tools. It’s just way more fun and thrilling like this.”
