Poster Monday: Il Trovatore
The second Poster Monday spot belongs to Carlo Fiore from Italy for his poster entitled “Il Trovatore”. This is the second poster that we feature from Carlo, if you would like to read more about him and see his previously featured poster follow this link to the poster “La Gioconda“.
The poster “Il Trovatore” was designed for the 2011 Opera Season of Palermo Teatro Massimo as part of a series of poster and program note covers using b/w photos retouched adding some strong or soft colors. The 2011 poster series was awarded with two Gold Awards in by the 2013 issue of Graphis Poter Annual.
“As usual for our opera poster design (we are involved most of the time in music related design) we try to design something capable to summarize something from the plot and/or from the musical score, bringing together a strong modular grid with nice and eye catching iconography.”
As you know, Manioc, the main character of Verdi’s Trovatore is a troubadour singing with his lute and , at the same time, is one of the best loved operas of the classical Italian repertoire. “For us, in classical music industry, is very important to design something in order to bring together older and younger people trying add always a little touch of humour.”
