Poster Monday: Mein eigen Fleisch und Mut
For the second Poster Monday spot of the day we have a poster from a previously featured designer entitled “Mein eigen Fleisch und Mut”. Sven Lindhorst-Emme was born in Germany and as you may remember, he studied lithography and worked for 10 years as such, then he studied graphic design and moved to Berlin where he runs the studio lindhorst-emme. Graphic design, book design and typography are the main things that studio lindhorst-emme works on as well as on media products like art or cultural based projects like photo books, posters and artists catalogues. Sometimes works with freelancers or interns and holds exhibitions with different artworks i.e. posters and books.
His work has been selected and exhibited on poster competitions such as the Chaumont Poster Festival, Golden Bee 11, 100 Beste Plakate 2015, 1 Shenzen Poster Festival and Asia Next. The poster featured above was degined for a video art exhibition that took place in Berlin, curated by Ana Baumgart and Daniel Franz, which presented 10 video artist. “Mein eigen Fleisch und Mut” won the TDC-Award in New York and will be shown at the 61st Awards Exhibition in more than 14 countries across the world and is also included in the Annual of the Type Directors Club 2015.
“The concept behind the artwork is based on a strong use of typography thats surrounds a black dot or circle. This black circle is used as a representation of a video camera lens. When you watch at the poster you feel like looking in a lense like artists do when they stand in front of a camera. The typography or letterings are selfmade/customized for surrounding the black circle.” says Sven.
