Ghazal Hosseini, a distinguished member of the global artistic community, stands out as a highly accomplished graphic designer and educator with an impressive portfolio of achievements. Ghazal’s academic journey is grounded in a Master’s degree in Graphic Design from the Art University of Tehran, where she honed her skills and laid the foundation for her future success. Her commitment to visual communication is evident in her Bachelor’s degree from Shariati University of Tehran. As a graphic teacher and lecturer for the Ministry of Education in Iran, Ghazal has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of designers since 2010. Simultaneously, she serves as the Head of the provincial advisory and audit board for Photographic and Graphic Design at the Isfahan Research Center, showcasing her leadership in educational initiatives.

In addition to her roles in academia, Ghazal has made significant contributions as a freelance graphic designer and a Visual Communication lecturer at Amin and Sepehr University from 2011x, further enriching her practical and theoretical expertise. Ghazal’s work has reached global platforms, with her participation in numerous international invitational exhibitions. Noteworthy exhibitions include the “LOVE & PEACE International Exhibition” in Nagoya, Japan, and the “Perceptions II – Plants” exhibition in Poland. Ghazal’s influence extends to curatorial roles, where she spearheads initiatives such as the International Students Poster Exhibition collaboration and poster workshops, fostering collaboration between Polish and Iranian art students. Ghazal’s analytical prowess is showcased in her conference article on the content analysis of the official school book “Human and Environment.” Additionally, her editorial role in the official school book “Graphic for Publications” speaks to her commitment to shaping educational resources.

Through her international contributions, awards, and leadership roles, she exemplifies the transformative power of design in creating a global dialogue. Poster Monday: Design the Future

For the first poster Monday spot of august we have the work “Design the Future” designed by Antonia Marisescu from Timisoara-Romania, a graduate of the West University of Timisoara, University of Arts and Design, with a PdD in Visual Arts, on the topic “Illustration in Graphic Design”.
She deal with digital illustration, graphic design, poster design, acrylic painting. Her approaches in design work are mainly focused on the symbolic treatment of messages. Antonia often use color, geometric shapes, the volatility of wavy shapes in my creative palette.

The poster “Design the Future” was made for participated in the poster biennial at the University of Arts and Design in Timisoara, 2020. This poster talks about the connection that current design can have with the future through people. “The poster wants to communicate through geometric shapes, through the play of colors and the font shapes used. The poster, which are played inside the composition with the messages hidden by symbols, numbers, geometric shapes and colors. It was created for aesthetic and decorative purposes. It was important for me in this project that I found inspiration in the book “100 Years of Swiss Graphic Design”. This book helped me as a landmark for the formatted compositional layout” tell us Antonia.

Welcome to another edition of Poster Monday. For this spot of the day we have a poster from Melike Bozkurt a am 23 years old designer. She lives in Istanbul Turkey, is a student at Yeditepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Design Department. At the same time, she studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Design.

Melike tell us about her poster “The subject of the poster I designed is“Obsessive Compulsive Disorder”. The reason I chose this topic is to raise awareness about this disease. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a condition in which people have repetitive thoughts called obsessions, and because this thought bothers them, they engage in repetitive behaviors called rituals or compulsions, usually in order to relax”. While designing this poster, my starting point was the brain, which is our thinking center. These complex and repetitive thoughts that occur in the brain greatly affect the life of the person. I wanted to reflect this confusion in the brain in my poster. On the other hand, I compared our brain to a walnut with its similarity and supporting its development.
We designers should support people with the disease by including these issues in our designs in order to raise more awareness of such diseases. I hope my poster will inspire these people, stay happy!”

Chun-Ta specializes in branding, visual identity, editorial design, binding, packaging, printing and post-press finishing. With a diverse and broad experience in design service, he has been working with a wild range of clients, also willing to explore the possibility of collaborating with people from multidisciplinary specialties.

Poster Monday: Green

For this Poster Monday spot we featuring the poster of Lajos Nagy; born in 1971 in a small rural town in Hungary. Graduated from the SZTE JGYPK Art Institute, the Department of Drawing Art History in Szeged, and the Hungarian University of Applied Arts, now MOME in Budapest. He has participated in several group and solo exhibitions in Hungary and the then Yugoslavia.

Lajos Nagy tell us about his poster “The title is “Green”, but only because it has this caption on it. It was said recently in the Hungarian Parliament: “… your party is like a watermelon: beautiful green on the outside, but angry red on the inside!” A Member of Parliament thus criticized the Green Party, paralleling their aspirations with some of the Communists’ goals. Citizens of Central European countries, especially if they are old enough, perhaps are really more sensitive, they have a better view of the dark sides of each political movement. They experienced that every hard dictatorship started as a fresh, youthful, well-intentioned movement, and then they began to look very similar to each other in hurting and killing people, and the end was always a tragedy. Yes, this is a political poster, but not simply against or in favor of a party or movement, but it seeks to highlight the importance of critical thinking and to be bold in expressing our views despite trends and fashion”.

“I love the poster as a branch of art. I used to be more interested in painting, but a poster conveys more direct, easier-to-understand messages, is more versatile in what design elements can be included, such as typography, and reaches many people, so it’s simply more practical. Design is usually considered a practical branch of fine art” says Lajos.

Poster Monday: Vistula is a Woman

For May’s last Poster Monday spot goes to Agnieszka Węglarska. She is a graphic artist from Warsaw, a Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees from the Academy of Arts in Warsaw. In 2020, after 20 years as an art director in advertising, she decided to take up art and start working as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. Inspired by modern architecture and electronic music, she carries out her brainchild – GRAFISK – where form follows fun.

The poster “Vistula (river) is a Woman” was created in 2017, celebrated in Poland as the Year of the Vistula; unfortunately, it coincided with the outbreak of women’s protests in the streets over the political situation, changes in the law, and speaking out about women’s rights. “The more, I wanted femininity to resonate in all its glory. The Vistula is symbolically called the “Mother of all rivers” and the poster is my tribute to Her, who gives life as water” tell us Agnieszka.

Today’s Poster Monday spot goes to Alfredo Parada Larrosa from La Rioja in Argentina for his poster “Book” He is a visual designer and have been working on it since 2003, besides being a designer Alfredo is a University professor and art director at Conceptual Estudio.

The poster “Book” wants to communicate that reading opens doors, opens paths and feeds the imagination. The visual metaphor in the poster has the ability to ask the observer to contribute their own meaning. In a world full of digital visual images, proposing the return to the book is an act of rebellion.

Poster Monday: Isolation

This Poster Monday spot of the day goes to Raqee S. Najmuldeen, born in Baghdad/ Iraq. He is graduated from University of Baghdad with MA in graphic design and then completed PhD at University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2012. Currently I work as an assistant professor at the College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Raqee have four papers in English published on design and  three books on art and design, one in English (Surreal Photography and Effective Advertising, on Amazon) and the two other in Arabic language. His design has been featured more than once in Photoshop Creative, Practical Photoshop, Hall of Fame and Photographize magazines.

The poster featured above entitled “Isolation” talk us about how the world has faced a big, unexpected problem, which is Coronavirus. As a result, people’s fears increased. The media contributed greatly to terrorizing this issue. The issue was mixed with politics, and the countries started accusing each other about the origin of this virus. And we became confused and as a result, our home became a shelter, which we have no solution without. Therefore, this poster came as a critic to raise awareness of the dangers of this topic, the dangers of exaggerated fear of the virus. Used the visual metaphor, and took advantage of the myth that if an ostrich was afraid, it would bury its head in sand. The ostrich here symbolizes the fearful world that does not know what is going on around, is it a conspiracy or not. Instead of sand, a floor appears here from different icons, including mobile phones and net, to indicate social communication…, while the background appears in the Coronavirus pattern. “Burying our heads with sand does not solve the problem. We have to face it and think of effective solutions” tell us Raqee.

Poster Monday: Save the Artic

The second Poster Monday spot of May goes to Olivier Ploux for the poster “Save the Artic”. Olivier was born in 1984 in Paris but lived most of his life in the French Alps in the little city of Annecy. In 2008, its a graduate from graphic design studies in Intuit-Lab school in Paris and study a year in Ecuador in Guayaquil in 2006. It’s where Olivier started the work that he now call “Des Maux en images” which could be translated as “Words into pictures”. Olivier work in an agency in Paris and kept going this illustration work as a hobby and finally moved back to Annecy where I work since 2012 as a graphic designer and illustrator where continue to illustrate the word and the daily news with the aim of being obvious, of being as clear as can be a great poster. Actually participate to poster contests and also illustrate in the daily newspapers LeTemps in Switzerland.

This poster was made after a call from Greenpeace to realize a poster on the theme: Save the Arctic. The poster is trying to alert on the melt of Arctic and the consequences like the extinction or the polar bear and also a tribute to the great french sculptor François Pompon who created the famous Pompon Bear which can be seen in the Orsay Museum in Paris. A poster has to create an instant and understandable message. “I hope this poster can contribute to open eyes on the melt of Arctic and what will happen because of it. During my studies, I have been amazed by the powerfulness of different poster designers’s work like Savignac, Cieslewicz, Walenta, Batory, etc. and discovered through workshops this exercice of creation. After that, it was done, i kept going creating and participating to contest and paste my work in the street… Design is everywhere but it shall not only be reduce to a merchantile purpose. It can help to talk, to sensitize to alert, to contest, to educate. That’s the beauty of it. Design life !” tell us Olivier.

The memorial poster is designed with the perspective from Taiwan. In Taiwan, the image of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is applied to the design of NT 100 note, which is used most widely. As time goes by, modern people usually connect Dr. Sun Yat-Sen with the notes. Therefore, the image of note is used as the topic of the poster, constructed with geometric shapes in salute to his eleven times of democracy revolutions. The poster is not only for memory but also try to arise viewers’ reflection upon the influence brought from historical figures and what it left now.
