Children are indeed what give color to the world, and love is one of the strongest colors of them all.
When an earthquake hit the grounds of the Kermanshah area in Iran, with at least 600 people killed, amongst them, children, are the ones who suffer more when their parents die. And it is up to us to help them get back their colors, as they give the world lots of colorful moments!
Designers from all over the world have been invited to participate with their posters especially created for the occasion.
The statement (by the organizers):
“Language of images in an era in which nobody can understand the meaning of words, is the closest aspect by which human beings can communicate with each other in the current world filled with pains and deaths.
That is why the image represents a common dimension of human beings – common sufferings, common calamities and death. Knowing the notion of Humanity is the concept that connects humans to each other. Humanity can be defined as helping others, humanitarian measures and union; therefore, color of skin, nationality and ethnicity is not important in this dimension.
Having said these things, we provide you with an example. Example of children of Kermanshah. So, We knit our hands and bring their sufferings in the images.
We made decision on putting up posters in order to show a visual image. A visual image which can represent our union against pains of earthquakes.
See the posters as a person who is looking for a sympathetic friend”.
The exibition will take place in the Simorgh community center of Nishabour – Khorasan Razavi – Iran, 3 March 2018.
The Poster Monday spot of the day goes to Behnam Raeesian from Iran for his poster entitled “Online/Attendance Teaching Courses of Poster Designs by Behnam Raeesian”. Behnam is a Poster Designer and teacher and a member of Union Designer. “Poster is my life; every successful person has a goal in life, and I, like other friends, have chosen a single goal in my life. To accomplish my goals, I am developing a poster for 8 years, which says that I have left my first half of life” says Behnam.
The poster “Online/Attendance Teaching Courses of Poster Designs by Behnam Raeesian” is conceived for telling us what is behind the act of teaching how to design posters. Behnam believes that the poster acts like a microscope, such as a device that is able to see objects and shapes that can’t be seen with the eye, the most detailed topics are the most minor beliefs. The posters will be the most realistic details of our life. Poster is like playing, a musician performs his own song, after which you write poetry on poetry, a series of nine lyric poetry writers, and the newborn makes music poetry based on it, choosing the title at the beginning and end of the coin is a choice with my students. I teach both students in my courses in both ways.
“As a teacher of my students, I try to raise the students’ perceptions of the visual perception of the posters, not just the poster, but also the perception of the posters, and I am instructing them to engage with them on a daily basis” says Behnam.

Javad Mirhosseini was born in 1979 in Tehran, Iran, and is in our second Poster Monday spot of February with his poster “Sculpture Gift Portraits”. Javad has been the art manager of Studio Hashtad LTD for 18 years. His team has been involved in designing visual identities for plenty of state and private companies in Iran and other countries. He has attended numerous domestic and foreign exhibitions and has been the curator and organizer of specialized exhibitions in graphic design, lectures and reviews on design.
Today’s poster was designed to promote the work of a sculpture and the use of this poster to order the production of a portrait. The main theme of this poster is based on spatial criteria, volume, creativity and how to create an effect in space (instrumentation, 4 point dimension). Even in layout the work attempted is based on volume and space.

For the first Poster Monday spot of the month we have a poster from Seyyed Mehdi Mousavi from Iran for his poster to commemorate earthquake victims in Iran. Seyyed was born in 1985 in Givi county of Ardabil province in Iran. Since 2007 he has been working professionally in the field of graphic design, especially poster design. His artworks and poster designs have been displayed in various design exhibitions all around the world including: France, Switzerland, Austria, Bolivia, Italy, Ukraine, Germany, Russia, South-Korea, Finland, Mexico, Bulgaria, Belgium, Peru, China, United States, Turkey, Slovakia, Liechtenstein and Spain. He has also earned awards in many international poster design competitions.
On November 12th, 2018, a terrible earthquake occurred in the city of Kermanshah, Iran, which killed many people. This event inspired Seyyed to create a poster about the tragedy. “I created this poster in the year 2011 for the Kermanshah Graphic Designers Association in IRAN to introduce Kermanshah, a beautiful city of IRAN. My idea for this poster was to use brass bread (NAN BERENJI) as one of the most popular souvenirs in Kermanshah. Now Kermanshah is saddened by the loss of its flowers with an earthquake on 12 november 2017” says Seyyed. The poster is dedicated to all the dead people of the Kermanshah and all people dead from earthquakes around the world.

For December’s first poster Monday spot we have a poster coming from Iran designed by Morteza Haraeeni who was born in 1992 in Tehran. Morteza has a Master’s degree in Graphic Art from Tehran University of Art; previously we had already shown his poster Alone.
This poster was made for the play based on the book The Eclipse of Ayub Aga Khani which depicts the story that unfolds in the tent of an Afghan man in difficult social conditions. It is the story of the love and pain that an Afghan couple lives to avoid war in the region without borders. The poster feautures the presence of the tent inside the text in which all the letters are cut with scissors manually and placed on the craft paper and scanned.
If you would like to know more about Morteza Haraeeni visit his personal facebook page. If you would like to submit a poster to be featured on Poster Mondays find all the info you need to participate on our submissions page.
For the second Poster Monday spot of November we have a poster coming from Iran entitled “Suddenly a Dove” designed by Babak Safari. Babak was born in Bandar Abbas, Iran, in 1986. He studied Graphic Design at the Naghshe Jahan University. He works as a designer and his posters have been exposed in several places like the Warsaw International Poster Biennale, ISPB International Student Poster Biennale, Lublin, Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design Golden Bee and many more. Currently he is a member of the Union of Designers.
The poster “Suddenly a Dove” was designed for a theatre play about the life and problems of Iranian women in the past. In this poster, a woman’s face is combined with a building, the shape of the building is inspired by Iranian paintings of the 15th century AD. The colors turquoise and golden are traditional in persian work and black is used to show sadness, problems and misery. “Usually, in the production and design of my posters, I try to use the tradition, elements and composition of Iranian art, and usually the 15th-century paintings in Iran have a strong, rich, and completely Iranian composition, and I use them” says Babak.

For this Poster Monday spot we have the poster “Not another earth for life…” that belongs to Elham Khodabandeh. She was born in 1991 in Mianeh, Iran, and currently lives in Tehran. Elham studies M.A. of Graphic Design at the Tarbiat Modares University and she also works as a freelance designer. Her posters have been invited to international exhibitions in countries such as the US, Korea, Mexico, and Greece. Her work has been selected for contests like Escucha mi Voz and the International Reggae Poster Contest and has been featured in many foreign and inland exhibitions.
In the poster “Not another earth for life…” there are two interrelated concepts. The first is that we have just one earth and we should not play with it like it is for our entertainment. The second concept tells us that we should keep it safe and healthy for the next generation. This contributes to the total subject of the poster, “Environment”. This concept is taken through the creative use of Lego’s to construct this earth. Sometimes it seems that talking about environmental care is a fruitless effort, but trying to change the mentality and actions to achieve it, will always be a valuable effort that we must continue to do.
If you would like to know more of Elham Khodabandeh and her work you can visit her instagram account.
