Poster Monday: Defalcation; Ringer silent!

Hassan Karimzadeh has been a prolific visual artist; Iranian graphic designer, cartoonist and director of art for many years. His work is featured as our second Poster Monday spot of the day with his poster “Defalcation; Ringer silent!” Hassan has achieved numerous titles, honors and important prizes during his artistic career, such as: Title of the “F.U.N” (Friend of United Nations) from United Nations (2012, Swiss), 1st. prizes of “World Press Cartoon” International contest (in two years: 2008 & 2010, Portugal), “GOLD” prize of logo designing from International Institute of Visual Communication, “Graphis” (2012, USA), the “Art of Book design” (2015 Iran), title of the “Top Ten” designers from the COW (Center of the World) international festival (2016 Ukraine).

The poster “Defalcation; Ringer silent!” refers to underground corruption & financial mismanagement of the statesman and their relatives. We know that according to written or unwritten laws in every part of the world, any misuse of government & public property is “crime”. According to the statistics of international and credible financial institutions, the number and quality of embezzlement has grown year by year. Meanwhile, in the Americas, Asia, the Pacific, Europe and Africa, respectively; the highest levels of defalcation and financial corruption have been detected and recorded. The poster reminds us of the unofficial verdict of “silence”. The poster background typography is a Farsi word for embezzlement (Ekhtelass).

Poster Monday: Monologue

For this Poster Monday spot we have a poster entitled “Monologue” from the previously featured designer Rasool Haghjoo from Iran. Rasool was born in Tehran in 1981. He is a member of ITPODA Iranian Theater Poster Designer and a Member of ICOGRADA-IDA IRAN, and has great experience designing posters for theater like the one we present today.

The poster “Monologue” is a theater poster, for a play written by Harold Pinter. Rasool achieves an accurate synthesis of the play, finding the perfect balance between what can be counted and what should be left to the imagination in a theater poster, so that afterwards the spectator completes the story in the stage. The Story is about a cold blooded lonely man, who recalls his memories. He presents a character full of reproaches, where words dominate the action and takes us through a journey where the character explains to us what he had and what he lost, his yearnings and desires, passing from tenderness to anger, from beautiful memory of love to what is lost. A dramatic journey through a past of lights and shadows not completely overcome.  “I used an old useless electric kettle, to show his cold and unhappy face” says Rasool.

For the Poster Monday spot of the day we have a poster from a previously featured designer entitled “I Have the Right to Live a Life far from the Violence”. Amirhossein Rastegari from Iran, graduated in Graphic Design also was training by Ghobad Shiva one of the best graphic Designers the world wide.

This poster “I Have the Right to Live a Life far from the Violence” was made with the assumption that violence against women, and the concept is that a woman is like a chair to which everyone can use, this tragedy is a huge violence against every woman. “I think we can artists change an insight of the world’s people, who they can have a good day for themselves and their children.” says Amirhossein.

This Poster Monday we are featuring a poster from the Iranian designer Amirhossein Rastegari entitled “Nelson Mandela”. Amirhossein has participated in several exhibitions in different countries around the world such as Hundred top poster in Germany, Italy, triennial Ukraine, Ekoplagat Slovakia, Serbia( Novisad), Japan, political poster triennial Belgium and many exhibitions in Iran.

He designed this poster to honor the memory of Nelson Mandela one of the greatest political leaders of the world, who fought against racism, “He was a
real man, as a free bird” says Amirhossein.

Poster Monday: Some Degree of Misunderstanding in Scale, Othello

The Poster Monday entitled Some Degree of Misunderstanding in Scale, Othello comes from Iran and it belongs to Saeid Rezvani. Saeid was born in the city of Shirvan and lives and work in Tehran. He currently leads the design studio Vahman in Tehran as its artistic director. “One of the projects that i do in my own studio, is designing theater Posters” says Saeid.

The poster Some degree of Misunderstanding in Scale, Othello, which mixes  drawing and digital. is a free interpretation of the play by William Shakespeare. For the design of this poster, the concept is the illusion of love and betrayal, the effect of romanticism and tragedy. “I tried using the most subtle indication of this possible relationship with the public, and I thought it succeeds” says Saeid.

Poster Monday: Stop Tribal Wars

The Poster Monday spot of today belongs to Mahmoud Ahmad Abadi, a graphic designer from Iran for her poster “Stop Tribal Wars”. It shows the coexistence of all skin colors and races beside each other and therefore formation of a new holistic personality.  The fact is that all persons with any color and shape are all human beings.

“Stop Tribal Wars” was designed for racial discrimination. “Discrimination causes war between races. In a world that colored skins are more than white ones but the whites have overcome the others in the world.” Says Mahmoud.

“So here the color of white is trying to indicate the white skins and the black color is used for the black skin races and a hand that is both the sign of stopping and the appearance of red skins and the ornamental devices of them.”

Poster Monday: Human in the Future

The first Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Babak Bayrami from Iran for his poster entitled Human in the Future. Babak was born on September 14, 1992 in Tehran, Iran and now lives in the Karaj, Alborz province. He graduated from Yazd Visual Art School in Graphic and continued his studies at the Tehran Enhelab Eslsmi technical faculty. He has B.A from the Karaj Applied Science & Technology University.

The poster Human in the Future was designed to portray the history of human life, its relationship with technology development and the effect of social networks, warning about how the serious bondage of human to cyberspace could cause this technology which had helped human life to change into his prison in the near future. The concept of this poster is not to stop the use of technology, but to alert about its non-logical and addiction-like use by humans. The poster can be a warning for the ones who use social networks too much; making them imagine themselves in this prison and think that this could happen to them in future. Babak believes that “the art is not concern just art and nor the people, it belongs to all creatures around the world”

Poster Monday: Yar authority

For the first Poster Monday spot of this week we have a poster from Iran designed by Vahid Bahrami titled “Yar authority”. Vahid studied graphic design in Tehran and he is  an official member of the Iranian Graphic Designer Society (IGDS).

Vahid has been selected & participated in more than 50 other national and International poster exhibitions, such as the 6th International Poster festival of Peru, the poster international exhibition of Innovation in the Education – Turkey– Erzurum – Atatork University – 2013, and the fourth poster international biennial of students of Serbia. His work has been published in Mokaab magazine.

The poster “Yar authority” was designed for an invitational poster exhibition entitled Maghame Yar about the religious event Ashura. Ashura commemorated by Shi’a Muslims as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad the prophet at the Battle of Karbala on 10th day in the month of Muharram. Shi’a muslims tie up green fabrics and locks on saint places. The cup shows an image of Abbas holding Islam’s flag. Two birds beside him is symbolize peace and the bottom shows a poem about loyalty.

Poster Monday: Alone

The first Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Morteza Haraeeni from Iran for his poster entitled Alone. Morteza  Haraeeni  is currently studying graphic design at the University of Art Sepehr Esfhan. He has participated in many art festivals and exhibitions such as the Fair Play Festival and the Exhibition from the Museum of Contemporary Art. His work has been featured in printed publications such as the Graphics book, Baban and more.

The author explains his design: “In life, all have experienced a time of solitude, where some thrive or fail. This poster tells us a story about nostalgia. It is the story of a student who has lived alone for a long time, in a place thousands of miles away from where he was born. It is a personal story, like all the days I was ready to eat food and . . .  the poster was born”.

Poster Monday: Konar

Today’s first Poster Monday spot goes to Mohammad (Sina) Afshar for his poster entitled Konar Theater Poster. Mohammad is a graphic artist from Mashad, Iran; Graduated in Computer/Software and Freelance Graphic Designer and a renowned poster designer.

He has won many awards at a national and international level and his work has been exhibited in the Modern Art Museum –Russia, Jamaica, Ukraine, Italy, China, Mexico, France, Turkey and many others.

Mohammad explains the concept of his poster: “Konar is a sacred tree which grows in the south of Iran. The subject of this theater refers to survivors of 8-year war between Iran and Iraq (1980-1988) which happened in the south of Iran. The general image (Cassette Tape) is related to one of the theater’s element that present in many moments of theater and this cassette tape is transformed to Konar”
