Bong Joon-ho’s dark, class-war comedy ‘Parasite’ recently took all the plaudits from the Oscars in which it won four Academy Awards (and also made Oscar history) including Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay). Recently the internet has been flooded with more alternative poster designs, some from international distributors and others by fans.

Oscars 2015 – artist poster series

The emotion of the Oscars is now starting to fade away. We now know the results, but not everyone had the opportunity to see this posters series created by 14 artists from various countries.

The motto of this series was “Imagine what’s possible”. Using different styles but consistent colors and the Oscar as a central point in the composition as a the recipe to create a coherent, pure and expressive collection, the artists put their minds to work. The posters chosen from this special set were made by Mogollon (United States), Blastto (Spain), Hattie Stewart (United Kingdom) Petra Borner (Sweden) and Steve Wilson (United Kingdom).

RIP Anthony Goldschmidt

RIP Anthony Goldschmidt

Last week the poster community lost a dear member: Anthony Goldschmidt, the influential graphic designer, founder of Intralink Film Graphic Design, who created the iconic posters for scores of films, including  E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Thelma & Louise, The Da Vinci Code and the Batman movies. He was 71 years old. Our sympathy goes out to his friends and family in this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
