Poster Monday: Less War
In our first Poster Monday of may we present a series of posters entitled “Less War” created by Ian Perkins from UK. He was born and studied design and illustration in the UK, worked in design and advertising for many years, in the cities of NYC, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore and Taipei.
For the last 9 years Ian have run Name & Name design studio, based in Asia, working on graphic design and visual brand communication projects across Asia, China, UK and USA.
The Ukraine conflict is in the news. People are dying. “We were asked by Taiwan creative representatives to create a poster that could be passed on and used by Ukraine creative groups for peace promotion. For the poster with the peace symbol showing where there are no guns, the concept was “where there is no fighting (represented by the guns and weapons), there is peace”.
For the poster with the 2 guns pointing away from each other a heart is created where the handles meet – representing that when weapons are not pointed at each other, love (and peace, kindness and associated feelings) can be found. As a designer who creates mass messaging, usually to sell things, it is nice to use my skills to promote peace and to inspire others, and I am hoping for an end to this (and the other conflicts currently less in the news)” tell us Ian.
