Poster For Tomorrow 2022-2023 Top 10

Last month the international social poster project Poster For Tomorrow announced the results of Do The Right Thing live jury session in Italy Lecce. They also selected the best 100 posters of this year’s competition. The results of the jury’s deliberation have been announced during a press conference at the Teatrino Convitto Palmieri in Lecce. The whole event was organised by and in partnership with Conversazioni sul futuro.

Poster For Tomorrow – Fake News BOOK

The Poster For Tomorrow Fake News Book is finally here. The book celebrates the 11th edition of which pushes barriers to give Fake News the best contribution possible!

This limited edition book is printed in square format 215 x 215 mm, on 100% recycled handmade natural paper and consists of 148 pages.

The Fake News book includes a foreword by Vera Gheno – Sociolinguist, teacher and lecturer at the University of Florence, designed by Hervé Matine and written by Will Georgi.

The best 100 posters book is published in 4 languages, giving you also an overview of the activities of the project since the first biennale edition in 2020 including a crowdfunding campaign to combat COVID-19 in refugee camps in Syria and a poster contest calling for the immediate release of Egyptian political prisoner Patrick Zaki.

Polish Poster in the RISD

At the Rhode Island School of Design, students learn by studying design and artwork of the past. The collection of Polish posters in the RISD Library Graphic Design and Illustration Archive is one source of inspiration for student work. As visual and resource material librarian Mark Pompelia explains, the posters are “part of a tradition of object-based learning.”

Professor and critic Jacek Mrowczyk uses them to teach composition, typography, image-text relation, and illustration, among other things. He tells us that those featured below are by Polish designers and were donated to RISD by Polish theorist Szymon Bojko.

Poster For Tomorrow – TOP 10 Fake News – 2020

Last month was the official announcement of the top 10 posters for the international social poster competition Posters for Tomorrow 2020. The competition recorded 6078 entries addressing the theme of ‘fake news’, a topic that has felt increasingly relevant last year.

Environmental Damage Posters using Disney Movies

Alex Wadelton and Tom Whitty launched the Future Landfill project, to fight back against the australian supermarket chains, who are using small plastic toys to sell their products.

To highlight the long-term environmental impact of these short-term promotions, they have taken classic Disney movie posters and reinterpreted them with these little plastic toys in the leading roles.

The project wants to encourage australians to go to futurelandfill.org and sign the petition started by youtube star, Natalie Tran, that is calling on Woolworths brand to end their promotional campaigns, and to commit to recycling the cheap toys for the length of their natural life, which is up to 1,000 years.

Poster Monday: Life

From Azerbaijan Elnur Babayev en his poster“Life” is our last poster monday of February Elnur, graduated as an industrial designer from METU/Turkey. Has received many local and international design awards, both in industrial and graphic field. This year one of his poster was selected as a winner for the best 100 posters among 5300 posters by posterfortomorrow.org Currently, works as an art director at international advertising agency in Baku.

The poster “Life” was just shows the very end of life, “we born and grow up, rise in terms of education, career etc. But the last station is death. So the concept is stairs of rising and the last stair represents death, the end” says Elnur

Poster Monday: This is not a Machine

The Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Nacho Arbesú from Spain for his poster entitled This is not a Machine Nacho was born in Asturias, Spain. He graduated in Geography and History specializing in Art History. He owns a degree in Arts and Design from the School of the Arts of Oviedo.

The poster was originally created for Poster4Tomorrow’s 2014 edition Work Right! Which advocated for the right to work without any kind of discrimination or exploitation. This poster was one of the TOP10 selected, and also won the Second Place in social and political posters category of the Bolivia Poster Biennial in 2015. “I inquired about the situation of the people manufacturing clothes for miserables wages and conditions of slavery, which I tried to represent through a static sitting figure which merges with a sewing machine and an endless fabric that crosses the poster”, says Nacho.

Poster Monday: Surviving, work right

For this Poster Monday spot we have a poster designed by Kathiana Cardona from Venezuela entitled “Surviving”. Kathiana was born in Caracas, and studied graphic design and visual arts in Montreal Canada. She is a Professor at Saint Mary University in Caracas Venezuela, teaching Graphic and Editorial Design.

Kathiana  is designer and photographer. Her images as creator and her work as a teacher, organizer of cultural initiatives and jury of images focus on giving living form to an idea: Images can be powerful enough to change reality.

The poster “Surviving, work right” was designed for the contest Poster for Tomorrow 2014 to defend one of the most important human rights, the right to work. “The concept is to see the work as a lifeguard, work gives humans an adequate standard of living, which will produce well, with can purchase food, medicine, education and entertainment among other things, work preserves your life” says Kathiana.

We are deeply saddened by the Belgium attacks and we think that Poster for Tomorrow’s topic for this year couldn’t be more on point. Last week they released a wonderful new letterpress poster to promote the call for entries created by Derek Stewart with the help from Tipoteca and FAVINI. Poster for Tomorrow Russia workshop

Poster for Tomorrow is at it again! This time it was the turn for Chelyabinsk, Russia, where Bertrand Nicolle and Hervé Matin led the Design for Human Rights program.

The program was divided into two workshops: Gender Balancing in the morning and Death is not Justice in the afternoon. The result was 54 wonderful posters created by the students and many wonderful memories for participants to cherish.

Thanks to the continued support of the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poster for Tomorrow will be hosting 12 new workshops across Africa, Asia and Europe this year. Upcoming workshops include Taipei, Taiwan fromAugust 24 -28 (led by Hervé Matine and Tommaso Minnetti) and Istanbul, Turkey from September 21-25 (led by Ginette Caron and Hervé Matine).

Meanwhile the members of the online jury are hard at work, choosing the posters that will be part of the selection for the final jury of the Universal Right to Health 2015 Poster competition edition.
