For the second Poster Monday spot of the day we have the poster Feel designed by Luis Antonio Rivera Rodriguez from México. Luis Antonio is a Graphic designer born in the city of Puebla, Mexico, graduated in Graphic Design from the Autonomous University of Puebla. He is coordinator and professor of graphic design at the College of Sciences and Humanities in Puebla. Besides teaching, he has participated in many national and international exhibitions, which include con100te 2011 poster, I Love Design, Rock paper 1 UP Mexico, 40 ideas in Jalapa Veracruz faculty of Arts, A poster not to forget, Hope for Japan, Recolor for Somalia, Save the TIPNIS, Triennial The 4th block, Triennial Toyama, Shows Your Type, Triennial Internationale de l’affine politique (le Manage) Belgium and many more.

The concept for the poster Feel is the rhythm, energy and movement generated by jazz music. The image was made for the Jazz in the ruins festival in Poland.

Poster Monday: Yar authority

For the first Poster Monday spot of this week we have a poster from Iran designed by Vahid Bahrami titled “Yar authority”. Vahid studied graphic design in Tehran and he is  an official member of the Iranian Graphic Designer Society (IGDS).

Vahid has been selected & participated in more than 50 other national and International poster exhibitions, such as the 6th International Poster festival of Peru, the poster international exhibition of Innovation in the Education – Turkey– Erzurum – Atatork University – 2013, and the fourth poster international biennial of students of Serbia. His work has been published in Mokaab magazine.

The poster “Yar authority” was designed for an invitational poster exhibition entitled Maghame Yar about the religious event Ashura. Ashura commemorated by Shi’a Muslims as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad the prophet at the Battle of Karbala on 10th day in the month of Muharram. Shi’a muslims tie up green fabrics and locks on saint places. The cup shows an image of Abbas holding Islam’s flag. Two birds beside him is symbolize peace and the bottom shows a poem about loyalty.

Graphis Poster Annual 2016 – Winners

A few days ago the International Journal of Visual Communication Graphis announced the winners of the Graphis Poster Annual 2016 competition. Graphis awarded 8 Platinums, 64 Golds, 82 Silvers and 305 Merits, totaling 459 medalists.  Medalists include Jisuke Matsuda, Gunter Rambow, FX/ARSONAL, Matthias Hofmann, Astrid Stavro, Nuria Cabrera, Pablo Martín, Peter Bankov, Katie King Rumford, Hoon-Dong Chong, among many others. The Poster Poster team would like to congratulate all the winners on their success.

Graphis Annual 2015 winners

Graphis has announced the winners of the Graphis Design Annual 2015. The competition includes all areas of design, including posters. This year, the platinum awards went to:

• Benjamin Hennessy from Frost* Design, for his poster for the City of Sydney.
• Poster Master Peter Bankov, for his Theatrical posters.
• Jan Sabach from Jan Sabach Design for his poster Help the Philippines.

There were also many gold and silver medals awarded to important designers and design firms, such as Pentagram and Poster Master Stefan Sagmeister. Check out all the winners and their designs on the graphis website.
