Life saving posters

They say that a poster can’t change the world. But it surely can contribute to make it a better place.

Designers have created an awesome form of posters that help other people to stay informed and prevent diseases, such as malaria, cancer and more. The results are a really interesting display of how the poster language can be abstract and still readable for the masses.

Poster Monday: Life

From Azerbaijan Elnur Babayev en his poster“Life” is our last poster monday of February Elnur, graduated as an industrial designer from METU/Turkey. Has received many local and international design awards, both in industrial and graphic field. This year one of his poster was selected as a winner for the best 100 posters among 5300 posters by posterfortomorrow.org Currently, works as an art director at international advertising agency in Baku.

The poster “Life” was just shows the very end of life, “we born and grow up, rise in terms of education, career etc. But the last station is death. So the concept is stairs of rising and the last stair represents death, the end” says Elnur

Water is Life Winners

Last year the ZVSHK, the German Sanitation, Heating and Air Conditioning Association, launched the second international “Water is Life” poster design competition, with the aim of promoting awareness of the importance of this fundamental resource. The competition was open to all students of art, design, graphic and communication design and architecture. We would like to share the results of the competition with you:

  • First place: Jennifer C. Borja
  • Second place: Jialiang Qin
  • Third place: Jhaimarr Joshe Angelo P. San Miguel
  • Special prize: Jie Zhou & Alexis Arra

The jury also selected 100 poster entries, that will be presented in a traveling exhibition that will be shown around the world in 2015. You can check out all the selected posters and info about the event in the Water is Life website. The Poster Poster team congratulates all the winners for all their effort!

Reinventing funeral advertising

After the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan, funerals became common as people dealt with death, hope and desperation. Funeral home Nishinihon Tenrei looked to find an alternative for the somber black and white format that is prevalent in Japan -where any color deviation is considered inappropriate- and assigned this task to Tokyo-based ad agency I&S BBDO who were commissioned to create a different ad for a Trade Show. Creative director Mari Nishimura decided to create this real-size human skeleton image made from pressed flowers, introducing color and elements of nature, to communicate the funeral home’s new role of remembering and celebrating the beauty of a lost person’s life. The image was so successful that it won the 2013 One Club Awards.
