C-IDEA Design Award 2021 – Call For Entries

About the C-IDEA Design Award
The C-IDEA Design Award is the Worlds’ annual juried design competition. It aims to recognize and promote visionary talents in a wide array of categories ranging from communication design, industrial design, architecture, interior design, fashion design, and new media.

A yearbook and exhibition of the nominated designs are also presented as part of the event.

The jury consists of twenty countries with over thirty representatives from high-profile designers and educators. The C-IDEA Design Award aims to recognize outstanding design with social value, excavate more farsighted, and responsible excellent design forces to help the development of the design industry!

The C-IDEA Design Award hopes to create more opportunities for excellent designers to communicate and cooperate with exhibitions, awards ceremonies, and international events. Each year’s results are announced during a ceremony that is hosted in a different country. So far, the CIDEA Design Awards ceremonies (and accompanying events) have been hosted in Russia, Poland, South Korea, Czech Republic, Taiwan China, and so on.

Top 100 french festival posters from 2020

For its 9th consecutive year, TOPAFF has compiled the list of its 100 favorite posters from festivals across France in 2020. The countdown celebrates artists and graphic designers while highlighting some of the most eye-catching poster illustrations.

Due to covid-19, the team decided to include both canceled and realized festivals and awarded the best visuals according to four criteria: originality, idea and meaning, graphic performance, visual impact (layout, space, typography, etc.). What do you think about their selection?

Protest Posters by 100 Letterpress Artists

Letterpress studio New North Press has put together a beautiful exhibitionfeaturing  a mix of famous names and less-heard voices, who all use letterpress techniques to express their feelings on a range of contemporary issues.

The topics featured on the posters are wide-ranging, including Black Lives Matter, Brexit, climate change, gay rights, fake news, social housing, police violence, gentrification and the NHS. The show features works created by the global letterpress community in addition to a series of new collaborative works that aim to help bring new voices and issues to the fore.

Revolution360 revolutionize street poster industry

Revolution 360 is launching 360 Intelligence, a platform designed to transform the street poster industry. The proprietary planning and reporting tool was built by the digital agency Geronimo. In an industry-first, its aim is to clean up the large guerilla poster sector.

“Our aim with launching 360Intelligence is to bring our street posters into the now with a level of sophistication and complete transparency in both planning and reporting.”

The tool applies a digital methodology to profiling audiences across all of its out-of-home panels through mobile location data. This data then provides an overall reach-based metric by the panel as well as a view on those users’ interests in particular products, brands, or topics. Posters for NHS Charities Together

The project 19 Artists vs Covid-19 was launched last year by Álvaro López to raise funds for the NHS and other charities. The participating artists were asked to create an A1 poster themed on the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, the project has been relaunched online. Push printed 75 copies of each design and they are now being sold for £19, with all profits to NHS Charities Together. Many of them have already should out but there a few copies available, so if you want to get a great poster while helping to fight covid get yours now!

“E=empathy” Virtual Exhibition

Smith House Galleries, in collaboration with 150 Franklin Street Gallery, presents
e = empathy Virtual Exhibition. This poster exhibition was made by architectural design students from James Madison University to express through posters their feelings and speaking out for people in the Black Lives Matter Movement.

“Our goal was to release. Through so much racial strife and tension that is raging through our country. I felt our guys needed an outlet to use their design language to express what they were feeling and to speak out for people in the movement”.

Lucerne turned into a Graphic Design Exhibition

The Pandemic has hit everyone hard in different ways, but it has also sparked wonderful bursts of creative solidarity. Based in Lucerne, Switzerland the members of Studio Feixen, decided to cheers up its community with with an advertising campaign created solely to bring color and joy.

Taking advantage of the empty streets they created a total of 17 different poster pillars across the city where they displayed brand new, bold poster works. We love this colorful idea and think it is a great way to bring joy during difficult times. What are you thoughts on this project?

Hugmun’s Acid Trip: poster series

Oslo design studio Hugmun created a wonderful series of acid trip posters to act as the program of events for the 25-year-old arthouse Norwegian cinema for Cinemateket Trondheim.

Each artwork features one month and takes inspiration from all the planned films scheduled for that period. The posters were designed for print, as well as online and cinema-screen use, where the illustrations are animated.

The Poster: A visual history

The Poster, a visual history is a book edited by Gill Saunders and Margaret Timmers that brings together over 300 examples of poster design and the various ways the medium has been used to throughout time. Organized into seven thematic chapters, each poster is accompanied by a concise commentary that explains the work in terms of its design, printing, content, message, and the commercial, social or political impact it may have had.

Published in association with the V&A the book is available at thamesandhudson.com. A must-have visual resource for graphic designers and illustrators, and anyone with an interest in collecting posters and understanding more of our social history through art.

First Exhibition of Original Bollywod Posters

Last year, the Heritage Transport Museum celebrated its 7th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the museum organized India’s first exhibition of original Indian movie posters and lobby cards. Titled Moments in Motion, the exhibition included more than 60 posters and over 100 lobby cards spanning over 5 decades.

The oldest poster on display was from the movie Hunterwali Ki Beti (1943) and the latest is from the movie Chalti Ka Naam Zindagi (1982).The exhibition began on December 5, 2020, and closed on January 31, 2021.
