‘Suicide Squad’ Stars Unveil Tattoo-Themed Posters

As you may know, there is huge anticipation for the upcoming movie Suicide Squad, which will hit theaters on 5 August 2016. In order to feed the hype, actress Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, posted a poster on her Instagram account, hinting at a promotional tie-in, and challenged fans to get inked at the SXSW film festival, which ran from March 11-19, 2016.

Other Squad mates posted their tattoo-themed posters on their respective Instagram and Twitter accounts. Cara Delevingne, who plays Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the Killer Croc, and Karen Fukuhara as Katana.

Poster Monday: Vinyl Record Fair

The second Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Jakub Zasada from Poland for his poster entitled Vinyl Record Fair. Jakub designs posters for cultural events, independent films and many more. His work is strongly inspired by the Polish School of Posters but also by a childlike and primitivistic joy of lacking any artistic talent. He designs series of posters with vinyl and is an avid enthusiast of the work of Georges Brassens. “Making a posters is not my really work, i do it for fun and relax. For me is something like meditation” says Jakub.

This poster is an invitation to the Vinyl Record Fair – a local music event in Wrocław that belongs to a series of fairs organised by Klub Firlej and the Amplifikator Music Lovers’ Association. The event is designed for all of those who wish to buy, sell or exchange records, The fair offers a great selection of vinyl records, CDs, cassettes as well as DVDs with live performances, musical gadgets and magazines.

El Cine en tus manos

The exhibition El Cine en tus manos (Movies in your hands) is currently on display at the sala de exposiciones del Archivo Municipal de Málaga as part of the project MaF. Málaga de Festival.

The exhibition presents a collection of 300 original movie posters from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. The show was curated by designer Antoni Lafuente who selected the posters from the retrospective collection of Pilar Jiménez Caballero, who has collected movies from different genres for more than 25 years.

The exhibition is complemented by photographs, audio files with the original movie soundtracks and fragments of the movies of the time. It will be on display until May 17, 2015.

Coherent poster series for Cinedays 13

Cinedays is a Film Festival that celebrates the diversity of European cinema. It gives the public an opportunity to see projections of European cinematography, as well as to discover young talented European authors. For 13th edition of this event Miki Stefanoski from Macedonia created a series of coherent, subtle and a bit mysterious posters that share a common color palette. The effect is quite intriguing. The posters are part of a complete visual identity, which also includes, flyers, labels and tote bags. You can see the whole set here.

ELCAF – illustrative posters

ELCAF (East London Comics and Arts Festival) is an annual festival, celebrating all things related to comics, graphic novels, sequential art, illustration and storytelling. For each edition one artist prepares a special, illustrative poster. The first one was illustrated by MCBess, the second, Litho Poster was prepared by Andy Rementer and last year Chris Ware made another great design for ELCAF 2014. Now Japan 2014 festival

Now Japan 2014 is a festival in Lithuania focused on Japanese music, visual arts, kitchen, teather and other things related with cultural, aesthetic and traditional aspects of life in Japan. For its current edition illustrator Karolis Strautniekas made a fresh visual interpretation of quite typical symbols associated with Japan. Her minimal, eye-catching illustrations were used for graphic elements related with this event. In collaboration with Other Peter (animation & direction) and with Sonar (sound) she also created a motion picture, while Džiugas Valančauskas was responsible for the graphic design.

DIFF Poster

This year, the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) commemorates its 35^th edition announcing a Festival Poster Retrospective Exhibition presented at the KZNSA gallery cafe.

Since 1979, this festival has grown; today, it is considered a premiere event on the cultural calendar of the City of Durban and across the world. According with this long timeline, this year, Wesley Van Eeden created a poster that narrates with a graphic journey, the history of the festival.

For the first time in history, all festival posters are been display together from July 17 until the 27^th, 2014. You can go see the exhibit free Tuesday to Friday, unless during short film screenings, but it will be worth it watch the film and then the exhibit.
