Poster Monday: Human in the Future

The first Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Babak Bayrami from Iran for his poster entitled Human in the Future. Babak was born on September 14, 1992 in Tehran, Iran and now lives in the Karaj, Alborz province. He graduated from Yazd Visual Art School in Graphic and continued his studies at the Tehran Enhelab Eslsmi technical faculty. He has B.A from the Karaj Applied Science & Technology University.

The poster Human in the Future was designed to portray the history of human life, its relationship with technology development and the effect of social networks, warning about how the serious bondage of human to cyberspace could cause this technology which had helped human life to change into his prison in the near future. The concept of this poster is not to stop the use of technology, but to alert about its non-logical and addiction-like use by humans. The poster can be a warning for the ones who use social networks too much; making them imagine themselves in this prison and think that this could happen to them in future. Babak believes that “the art is not concern just art and nor the people, it belongs to all creatures around the world”

Poster Monday: We can not Forget the Memories

For the second Poster Monday spot of the day we have a poster from Huimin Su, designed to be a  reminder of the danger of the most extreme form of modern warfare. Huimin was born in China, has a Major in Visual Communication Design, is member of International Design Council (ICO-D) and a ILIA_ International Landscape Planning and Design Industry Association. Huimin ‘s work has been in Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Serbia, China and other places.

Human explains the concept behind the poster: “August 6, 2015 is the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. 70 years have passed since WWII, but each country has yet to reach full consensus on the war, thereby constraining the overall summary of the lessons of history. Some right-wing forces within countries face potential challenges that may rise to bring peace to the world, international peace forces, including China, should be vigilant, and jointly safeguard the fruits of victory of anti-fascist war. At the same time, to learn the lessons of history, in accordance with the principle of mutual benefit to promote the coordination of national development interests, to lay a solid material foundation for universal and lasting peace. I hope now in peacetime for us; for we are celebrating the victory of the war, do not forget the history!”

Poster Monday: Read Changes the Way you Look

The second Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Santiago Solís Montes de Oca from México for his poster entitled “Read changes the way you see”. Santiago was born in Mexico City and raised in Durango. He studied graphic design at the UAD and has a specialty in editorial design by EDINBA. He has been working since 2005 making books, posters and illustration for children and youth in his study Mano de Papel. Santisgos´s work has been published in Finland, Cuba, Korea, Belgium, Spain, Ukraine, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Russia, Germany, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Poland and Mexico.

The poster was designed as part of a collection that sought to promote reading. The piece reflects the vertigo that produces an immersive and engrossing narrative; that abyss where we are always welcome to drop into, with one condition: to share what the author speaks to us, and how it changes the way we see and interpret reality.

Santiago says “A good poster is a voice that adds to the everyday sounds of everyday life, if the poster achive the time for dialogue with the pedestrian, will live now as a question in your mind. Poster design is a way of thinking aloud”.

Poster Monday: Yar authority

For the first Poster Monday spot of this week we have a poster from Iran designed by Vahid Bahrami titled “Yar authority”. Vahid studied graphic design in Tehran and he is  an official member of the Iranian Graphic Designer Society (IGDS).

Vahid has been selected & participated in more than 50 other national and International poster exhibitions, such as the 6th International Poster festival of Peru, the poster international exhibition of Innovation in the Education – Turkey– Erzurum – Atatork University – 2013, and the fourth poster international biennial of students of Serbia. His work has been published in Mokaab magazine.

The poster “Yar authority” was designed for an invitational poster exhibition entitled Maghame Yar about the religious event Ashura. Ashura commemorated by Shi’a Muslims as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad the prophet at the Battle of Karbala on 10th day in the month of Muharram. Shi’a muslims tie up green fabrics and locks on saint places. The cup shows an image of Abbas holding Islam’s flag. Two birds beside him is symbolize peace and the bottom shows a poem about loyalty.

Poster Monday: Congo the Worst Place to be a Woman

The second Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Ophelia Maame Nyarko Acquah from Ghana for her poster entitled Congo the Worst Place to be a Woman. Maame Nyarko it’s a graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Design. Currently work as a Creative Consultant for an advertising agency in Ghana called Digicraft. “I love Design and I love making posters because it gives me the opportunity to express my true emotions about any subject matter without offending anybody or hiding anything” says Maame.

Maame, explains how she was inspired to make her poster: “I once read a newspaper article which stated that 16,000 women are raped every year in Congo. I became very afraid. Rape is such an emotional subject, it dehumanizing to the person being raped, their will is forcibly broken and their body, mind, spirit and soul is violated in horrible way that it takes only the grace of God to keep rape victims alive. (Because many of them kill themselves).”

Poster Monday: Alone

The first Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Morteza Haraeeni from Iran for his poster entitled Alone. Morteza  Haraeeni  is currently studying graphic design at the University of Art Sepehr Esfhan. He has participated in many art festivals and exhibitions such as the Fair Play Festival and the Exhibition from the Museum of Contemporary Art. His work has been featured in printed publications such as the Graphics book, Baban and more.

The author explains his design: “In life, all have experienced a time of solitude, where some thrive or fail. This poster tells us a story about nostalgia. It is the story of a student who has lived alone for a long time, in a place thousands of miles away from where he was born. It is a personal story, like all the days I was ready to eat food and . . .  the poster was born”.

Poster Monday: Experience something new

The second Poster Monday spot of the day belongs to Lila Skanavi  from Thessaloniki, Greece for her poster entitled Experience something new. Lila was born and grew up in Thessaloniki and has been working as a graphic designer since 1990. She started to get interested in social design after participating in the Poster for tomorrow’s Democracy Cafe workshop, that took place during the Graphic Design Educational Meeting Toolkit Startup at Thessaloniki . Her work was selected for the open call Carteles por Ayotzinapa in the Primera Bienal Internacional de Cartel ‘Oaxaca. Also one of her posters about “work right” was selected as shortlisted for Poster for Tomorrow international competition.

The poster Experience something new was designed for the Adelaide Fringe 2015 competition and it was created to give a positive message about the chances that we have to experiment new things in design. Lila tell us “I love the idea of spreading social messages around the world through poster design”.

Poster Monday: Mother & Child

For the second Poster Monday spot of the day we have the poster “Mother & Child” designed by Pradeep Kumar from India. This poster was created for Mother’s Day to thank all the mothers for their unending Love for us and the happiness in our life because of them.

The two graphic elements – a circle and a leaf are named after the Indian folk tale – Dhela aur Patta. These two elements are conveyed typographically by showing the Heart and the Smile. The word Maa in Hindi means mother and though it is written with a single dot over the crescent but is modified to create the Smile, similarly the letter O in mother is replaced with heart as symbol of love. “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”. The complete “Dhela Patta” graphic series are available here.

Pradeep Kumar was born in a village named Khalasi in Rajasthan, the desert state of India. He studied Design at IIT Guwahati and currently works as a user experience designer in Bangalore creating flawless interfaces for mobile applications. He also works as a volunteer creating promotional materials for the NGO Hopes for Women in Education..

Poster Monday: Ready for Destruction

For our second Poster Monday spot of this week we have a poster from Iran designed by Milad Aghazadeh entitled Ready for Destruction.

In the 70th anniversary of atomic bombings against Hiroshima and Nakazaki, Milad designed this poster for the people of the world, to create awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons.  It is not about one nation or one region, it is about all humans. So we have to stop developing nuclear weapons around the world.

Milad was born in the Tehran, is an independent designer, graphic designer, illustrator and new media artist active in multimedia communication & related fields, He has have a BS degree in visual communication Design. He works in different fields such as illustration and character design, visual identity in general, posters, calligraphy, animation, book logo & photography.Milad has been selected & prized in competitions such as Exhibition in western Colorado art center, Bronze Medal in A’ Design, Milan, Finalist in “Golden Turtle” 9, Macedonia poster design contest and many more.

Poster Monday: Innovation in Education

Our first Poster Monday of the day is Innovation in Education, designed by Sabina Oberholzer & Renato Tagli  for the exhibition of the same name organized by the Ataturk University Continuous Education Centre.

Following the them of innovation Sabina and Renato, reflected on the media and its relationship with the youth today, and thought of the metaphor of the trapped mouse, showing young people that even though technology can be an aid they should be careful not to abuse it. To round up the concept they included the text “Information Technology helps innovate education, but don’tget hung up on it!

Sabina and Renato  think that visual communication is one of the components very important for our society. It is very important to communicate the message in a simple and clear way. They have long experience in graphic design, both individually and collectively. Their poster work their work has been recognized and rewarded in many competitions and collections around the world. In 2005, they were invited to participate in the Swiss National Bank’s contest for creating the new series  of banknotes, and in 2009 they won the contest for the Swiss Post Office’s stamp series Auguri (good wishes), in circulation since last September. If you want to learn more about Sabina and Renato you can visit the studio web page.
